Haleakalā was designed to capture the essence of ‘āina, the cherished land of the Hawaiian Islands. For Hawaiians, the land is sacred, providing sustenance and life. This respect for the land starts with Goddess Pelehonuamea, the deity of fire and volcanoes, who shapes the landscape. From her volcanic heights, streams and rivers flow, bringing life from the mountains (mauka) to the sea (makai).
Our clients are very passionate about traveling and they have stayed in some of the world’s most beautiful hotels and resorts. They wanted their home to feel like a luxurious resort while still being comfortable and functional. By working closely with them and understanding their family’s needs from previous projects, we were able to create a design that met their desires perfectly.
The MJM Interior Design team crafted the interior architecture of the entire house, handling everything from selecting all finish materials and cabinetry to choosing the lighting and hardware. We managed to blend their vision with the natural landscape around the house seamlessly. Each element was carefully chosen to bring a sense of elegance and relaxation, just like their favorite travel spots. From the grand entrance to the serene outdoor spaces, the home has a resort-like vibe, combining luxury with practicality.
Every part of the house, from the opulent master suite to the cozy living areas and tranquil outdoor spaces, was designed to be both beautiful and comfortable. The materials, colors, and furnishings were all selected to create a cohesive, luxurious environment. The end result is a home that feels like a world-class resort while being a warm and inviting family retreat.
